HP Color LaserJet 2605dn
Mark: Very good The HP Color LaserJet 2605 series consist of three USB printers that are very
well supported by OS/2 USBPRT.SYS and Linux.
I use the HP Color LaserJet 2605dn (450 Euro street price). The USB only
version should be around 360 euro.
The USB printer works with HP HPCL (3,6) and HP PS (3) drivers. Postscript
support under Linux is rated as perfectly
Under SuSE Linux 10 I use it as a LPD samba3 printer with the PPD file
from www.linuxprinting.org.
Under OS/2 the network version of the printer can also be used directly with
the SLPRN port interface with host IP-adres, printer "colorlaser" using an
PS v 3 driver.
It has an webinterface at port 80 (to check tonerstatus and much more).
The jetdirect port at 9100/tcp is not supported under OS/2 (I guess).
BTW: Windows XP installs more than 200 MB (enough for an GUI OS) software
to install this IP monster, but the lean OS/2 Laserjet drivers do as well
as does the lean PPD file from www.linuxprinting.org.
Conclusion: very well supported under eCS (via USB, SLPRN and samba ).
