On a homebuilt system here based on a Chaintech motherboard (7AJA2-100), BIOS last updated November 2002, (which doesn't have any "APIC" settings included!) I have no problems running either a AHA-29160 or AHA-29160LP (both 64-bit PCI-capable, but actually by design compatible with 32-bit PCI slots) here _with _ACPI_enabled_, and _PnP_OS_=_YES_and EARLYMEMINIT=TRUE enabled in config.sys
